On 5 and 6 October 2026, NWO Biophysics returns to Veldhoven for two days of scientific exchange, networking and inspiration. The annual conference on the physics of living systems features a broad programme with keynote lectures, plenary talks and parallel sessions covering topics from microscopy and cell biology to biomedical engineering.

The annual conference on the physics of living systems features a broad programme with keynote lectures, plenary talks and parallel sessions covering topics from microscopy and cell biology to biomedical engineering.
This year’s programme includes keynote lectures by:
- Sarah Keller, University of Washington, USA
Two extremes of liquid-liquid phase separation in membranes: minimal, artificial membranes with two lipids versus living, biological membranes with hundreds of components - Carl-Philipp Heisenberg, ISTA, Austria
Mechanochemical mechanisms driving zebrafish partial (meroblastic) cleavages
Plenary presentations will be given by Devika Narain (Donders Centre for Neuroscience), Matz Liebel (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), Giorgio Scita (The AIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology), Sebastian Deindl (University of Tübingen), Louise Jawerth (Leiden University) and Ewa Paluch (University of Cambridge).
Researchers can still contribute to the conference by submitting an abstract for a poster presentation or demonstration. Abstract submission for posters and demos, as well as participant registration, remains open until 3 September 2026, 14.00 CEST.
